Healing the 'Ayn (Evil Eye)
Al-'Ayn (The Evil Eye) is a reality that can cause sickness and decline. Learn the Prophetic treatment.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The evil eye is a reality, and if anything were to precede the divine decree, it would be the evil eye.” (Sahih Muslim). It is the harm that comes from a person’s look, whether with envy (Hasad) or even with admiration without blessing the object.
Symptoms of the Evil Eye
Unlike physical illnesses, the Evil Eye often manifests as a sudden decline in wealth, health, or mood. You might feel a heavy weight on your shoulders, constant yawning during prayer, or a desire to cry for no apparent reason.
Common Signs
- Sudden Lethargy: Feeling exhausted even after sleeping.
- Pale Skin: A yellowish or pale tone to the face.
- Palpitations: A racing heart without physical exertion.
- Forgetfulness: Losing focus on basic daily tasks.
- Recite the 3 Quls (Ikhlas, Falaq, Nas) and wipe your body 3 times a day.
- Perform Ghusl with the water used by the person who gave the eye (if known).
- Say 'Ma sha' Allah' when you see something you admire.
- Keep your children and possessions protected with the Sunnah du'as.
- Posting every blessing on social media (inviting Hasad).
- Wearing 'blue eye' amulets or charms - this is Shirk and does not protect.
- Fear-mongering - remember that everything happens by Allah's decree.
- Isolating yourself out of fear of others' eyes; trust Allah's shield.
The Prophetic Treatment
If the person who gave the eye is known, the most direct cure is for them to perform Wudu/Ghusl and for you to take that water and pour it over yourself. If they are not known, intensive Ruqyah is required.
Key Recitation: The ultimate Protection
The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to seek refuge for Hasan and Husayn with these words:
أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ
A'ūdhu bi kalimātil-lāhit-tāmmati min kulli shayṭānin wa hāmmati...
Аузу би кялимати-л-ляхи-т-таммати мин кулли шайтанин уа хаммати...
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every poisonous creature and from every evil eye.
Търся убежище в пречистите слова на Аллах от всеки шейтан и от всяко вредно влечуго, и от всяко зло око.
Summary
The Evil Eye is powerful, but the Words of Allah are more powerful. By staying in a state of Dhikr and being modest with your blessings, you build a shield that cannot be easily broken.
[!TIP] Protecting Loved Ones: If your child or pet is affected by ‘Ayn, recite the 3 Quls into your hands, blow, and wipe them. You can also recite: “I seek refuge for you in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every poisonous creature and from every evil eye.”
